Privacy Policy for Communications
This Privacy Policy for Communications regulates the terms and conditions according to which Maiêutica, Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, C.R.L. processes the personal data it collects in forms (in digital and/or physical format), for the purposes of external communications (not based on a contractual relationship).
In all matters that are not particularly regulated by this Policy, the existing laws and regulations shall apply, namely the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Data controller and other entities
Maiêutica, Cooperativa de Ensino Superior, C.R.L. ("Maiêutica") is the data controller and the communications you receive may be directly related to Maiêutica or its institutions: Universidade da Maia – ISMAI, Instituto Politécnico da Maia – IPMAIA or Centro de Formação ao Longo da Vida (Lifelong Learning Centre) – CFLV (hereinafter collectively referred to as "Maiêutica Universe").
For the strict management of our communications, we may use the mailing services provided by third parties, namely MailChimp. You may read MailChimp's Privacy Policy here (English version).
Data subject rights
As the data subject, you may revoke, at any time, the consent you are now giving, by using the form provided directly through the link in our communications. You may also exercise the right to access, rectify, object and erase your personal data. To exercise these rights, please use the following e-mail address: dpo@maieutica.pt.
If you consider that your personal data is not being processed in compliance with the applicable European and Portuguese legislation, we would like to remind you that you have the right to lodge a complaint with the supervisory authority.

Collected data: purposes and grounds for processing
The data we collect in the consent form is that listed on the form (first and last names, e-mail address) and is intended to be used exclusively to send you communications regarding the areas chosen by you on this form. In the case of students, teachers and active employees, the contact details to where communications will be addressed will be those previously provided within the scope of the established contractual relationship.
The legal basis for processing that data is your consent, which must be freely given, specific, informed and explicit. For students in the Maiêutica Universe, the contractual relationship and the academic activity may be the grounds for some communications within the areas defined below.
In the case of the Maiêutica Universe alumni, the grounds for communications may be the compliance with the legal obligations arising from the Legal Regime of Higher Education Institutions (RJIES), namely regarding the collection and disclosure of information of the career paths of its graduates.
As the data subject, you can limit the areas for which you give your consent directly on the form or, later on, by exercising your right to object.
Specifically, the communications we address to you may be sent within the following areas:
1. Newsletters: periodical sending of newsletters with news and information regarding the Maiêutica Universe;
2. Education/training offer: dissemination of courses offered by the Maiêutica Universe;
3. Events: dissemination and invitations to events (co)organised by the Maiêutica Universe (namely: Youth University, Job Fair, ISMAI Legends, conferences, seminars); or events organised by other entities and held at the Maiêutica facilities;
4. Surveys: opinion, quality control or scientific-pedagogical surveys occasionally carried out by the Maiêutica Universe.
Storage period
We store your data only during the period necessary for the purpose for which the data were collected.
Once the maximum period of retention has been reached, your personal data will be safely erased or, for data that allows this processing, it may be rendered irreversibly anonymous and Maiêutica may store the anonymised data.
For the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, your personal data will be stored for a maximum period of 12 months, calculated from the date of your consent or from the last contact made (whichever is later), and provided that, during this period, you have not revoked your consent.

This Privacy Policy for Communications may be reviewed and its current version in force is permanently available for consultation on Maiêutica's Education Institutions website, on the Maiêutica website and through the link in our communications.
